I'm looking for a route template for a headstock, that sort of stepped A-shape that is hollowed out, so regular tuners can be mounted Classical style, and the strings will have straighter angles.

Howdy. Curious what kind of wood wine boxes are typically made of. Looks like common cedar to me. Any guesses? If it is cedar I plan on planing it down and using it for a flat-top mandolin.
Trying my first 2x4 steel build, but when I tried to bend the tabs down, the first one snapped off.
1. What's the trick to not snapping off the tabs,
2. Can pickups be glued on? Double side tape? Silicone? Gorilla Glue?
OK, am getting deeper into the online plans for the 2x4 lap steel, and reading closely, it's a 23" scale, but later down the page Shane starts talking about the nut at 26". I thought scale length is bridge to nut.

I bought a couple singles , but selection was limited. Right now the bass is strung with an 80 and 110. The 110 is too big, barely fits into the bass tuner, and the 80, when tuned to the same note, sounds very very close to the 110.
