I put up pics of it ready-to-assemble a bit ago, this is the mostly-finished product:
I went ahead and bought a student bow; big difference. Thing sounds pretty decent, considering that I can't play it..... Nice "fiddley" tone.
Learned a couple of things... The strings have to be really low at the nut, or the intonation gets thrown way off. Also, very difficult to tune. No wonder real fiddles have fine-tuners. The slightest tweak on the tuning pegs makes a big change.
I've been fooling around with trying to get a decent tone out of the thing and learning the essential first-position notes...

LOL. You should go to a violin class with your fiddle and see their response.

Your CBF turned out really nice. Can't wait to hear it!

Here's the earlier post for folks looking for shot of the innards: http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/fiddle-ready-for-final
Can you post all these photos in the fiddle group? For posterity?
I put in a traditional "bass bar", running the length of the top on the bass side of the bridge, and also a soundpost on the treble side.
Yeah, there won't be any video for a while, I've been sort of painfully figuring out the finger placement. I do play mandolin a bit, that helps.
I could not find your earlier pix. Do you have a dowel running through the box?
It turned out great! Join Fiddlehangout.com and learn how to play!
Nice build, I know how much work went into it.
