I am fitting out a short scale (17") CBG using phosphor bronze strings from Gitty, gauges 0.44., 034, .026. (GDg). I seem to have excessive tension and cannot tune to the correct note using a chromatic tuner. Maybe I am an octave to high?

Will the out put of your pickup be affected if you cover it with say a cigerette case lid.I have a neat one I want to use but I don`t know how it will effect the sound from the pickup.Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.Most of this stuff
