The simplest little resonator instrument of all. Please add links to plans, photos of your canjos and ideas you've found that make the most of this diminutive instrument. (The image is a temporary placeholder, I'll replace it any day now!)

Maybe it is just me, but I love to sit there and pick out songs I know or songs people want to play on my Canjo. I own a couple of Canjo Song books from Gitty, and looked around online and found a…Continue

So I've made a few of this tin can banjo things. Having a blast playing on them. I've made a couple out of empty tin "soup" cans and one out of a beer can. I cut a few other cans to prepare them to…Continue

If you've used an upright can on a chordophone, here's the place to show your work.I'm looking for an olive oil can right now, one of those really pretty ones from Eastern Europe.Continue

Brian ,you can also use the same fret template that you use on your cbg's i use wfret and print them out. on my dulcimer s ,i use a 24 in. scale./24 frets for 2 octaves. you just take out the sharps and flats. do,re me etc.
starting after the nut, dont use frets 1, 3,6,8,10,13,15,18,20.22 dulcimers can also have 2 extra notes if wanted ,called +6 and + 13. i dont know why. if you want those simply add 10 and 22 back in.
Thanks,Thomas. Glad i made one. I'm sure more to come once I take it to work. nice ,fun project. A gal at work gave me the cans.
BrianQ, I use the Stew-Mac calculator http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Fretting/i-fretcalc.html on my builds. It gives settings for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, and ukulele, so it pretty well covers anything you want to build.
Good looking Canjo Battmann. I didn't realize I gave "advice" in my rambling comments. Love building canjos between the CBGs because they are all so different and just simple fun instruments to build.
Question, I have a CanJo w/ a regular CBG fret scale, can anybody
direct me to a dulcimer fret scale template?
A canjo a day keeps the hoodoos away.
That is a really nice collection, Katfish!
and yours is much nicer than the ones I've been making, CC !
guess I better fab some for Christmas!
Quite a few canjos in my photos. Some in videos as well. The vodka shaker has a "sitar like" sound to it. "K's" find a way into most of my canjo and other builds so forgive my kanjo references! Check them out if you'd like at http://www.cigarboxnation.com/profile/MikeKatfishKarash
