Beggar Canjo with short scale

CBN and real life friend, Kevin Patrick, gifted me this tin and 2 similar ones. It seemed easier and stronger to use the bottom of the tin for the top of the git. And that worked out well.To tell the truth, I was using spare strings (the 543) from a six string set) to string this one up and came up with this easy to play open E that I call Beg Sharp. (BEG#) It can also be tuned to at least two 151 tunings AEA and CGC. This is a SHORT SCALE and you would need short scale to do these tunings with the same 543 strings that I used. I happened to use electric strings. It is too short a scale to tune GDG like those strings would commonly be tuned. The strings are too loose for that tuning. IMO.Little git plays and sounds good. Tone is not high like many canjos. Tone is medium to low.

  • Looks great UJ and has really good volume and tone!

  • Colourful Critter 'UJ', looks great, I'm guessing (and hoping) we'll hear it soon?  :-D

  • Thanks, Dave.

  • I like the striped fretboard. Very colorful. Sweet!

  • Ha!  Maybe you sent them to me!  Thanks.  Fun and easy build.

  • Wow, no joke, for the last half hour or so (before seeing your pic) I've been messing around with Carmen (my traveling 4-string) tuned to B E G# E. I thought I tuned it that way on a whim but you must be sending out psychic signals. lol  Cool little git UJ!
