Have you seen the US civil war movie, Cold Mountain? I love the movie, in part for the old timey music played by Jack and others. Got to agree on the great slide. Not so sure on this particular vocal.
I heard a version of Death Letter on the radio by, I think they said, Sugar Ray that blew me away. I since haven't been able to find it but that's how i found this video. Jack's command of the slide is pretty amazing and quite frankly I'm having a hard time nailing down my favourite slide player in the more modern era.
Here's the short list:
Bob Log III, Rev. Peyton/ from Rev. Peyton and the Big Damn Band, and Jack White.
We should have a battle of the slides!
Thanks for posting bemuzic, I like to see what all you other guys come up with. I found this site through You-tube and searching around for slide players and an amazing world has opened up to me, now I'm like a dang sponge. I play the guitar I made for myself, "Chickenhead" reso, everynight, no particular song, just looking to get comfortable with the slide and I'm getting ready to learn some songs. Yesterday i found Muddy Waters "Rollingstone" and the slide playing isn't too intense and the amp he's playing through sounds almost exactly like my Fender Champ amp, so wish me luck!
James and Steve, I would let Meg play drums for me anytime!!
