Thanks Dave. Originally the plate only had 3 screws holding it to the hoop and it really plunked but kind of buzzed too much. I fastened it tighter and the sound is a lot more mellow now but almost muted.

That sounds great! Very banjo like tones coming from the metal “skin”.
