I built 3 guitars recently - all with the same fender-ish inspired headstock, fully fretted, and spent sometime designing and making some new look bridge peices that have both a standard 6 stringlook, but still that authentic home-built project look. The necks were lacquered, and play really nice - the american hard maple i got a hold of has a great sharp, but clean tone.
