Make Me Down a Pallet on Your Floor

Traditional Country Blues on 3 string Uncle John cigar box guitar (tuned DGB) and Iowa Saxophone. Most folks do this song fast and bouncy. Mississippi John Hurt's version is one me my favorites. Even some blue grassers have adapted it to their style.I think the lyrics make it a sadder song, so I do it slow. I posted a cover of this song years ago without harp. I could not do harp and guitar at the same time back then. I still have trouble doing both at once on this song. Probably due to an odd chord progression and an odd B7 chord in a key of G song.

  • Thanks, Nancy.  Happy Holidays.

  • 157403567?profile=originalIf no pallet a shoe box will work...I like the slow version to U~John esp with the harp...Meow^..^

  • Nice guitar playing and strong singing.

  • Thanks, Jim and Buggy.

  • Cool version UJ...like it

  • Good job on this Unc. The harp sounds great and you're right about that B7 but that really makes the song for me.

  • Thanks, Danny.  I noticed not seeing you for a while.  Good to have you here.

  • nicely done Unc I like the slower version best

  • Thanks, Richard and that's really nice about the delay.  Small kindnesses are wonderful.

I will work on the singing and playing the harp at the same time.  But early results are not promising.  There is a guy here in this area who clamps the harp in his teeth and plays guitar an d harp at once.

  • Good Sunday morning gospel feel. Next, and your close, the trifecta: guitar, Iowa sax, and singing all at the same time, slows OK! Always a good day when you post, I wait a few days to comment hoping to stretch the good day to maybe three. Then it’s back to getting kicked in the .....  WOW on the vocals, great song Uncle!
