Thanks AGP! Glad the Slingers are broadening your musical horizons; they are broadening mine. Although, in this case, this was my choice. I checked out the La Verne Baker version which is cool too; didn’t realize the song went back that far. I’m familiar with the Black Oak Arkansas version. Some songs are more timeless than others.
Cool Song Doug & Slingers, but one I have never heard of until now, just typed it into Utube, and up pooped a version by La Verne Baker, which I absolutely loved !!!! :-)
Thanks Kale! I’m really just a simple rhythm player, so I really enjoy my Chugger Plus; love the extra low G (same as a 4-string bass G string). It fattens up the sound without the elaborate single pole pickup/octave pedal/two amp setup that I tired of very quickly. With a 31 5/8” scale length though, some chord changes are an armful!
That 3-stringer is sounding fine Doug. Chunkin' out those chords. Nicely done.
Thanks so much Shane! It’s cool to hear you are using Jim Dandy too! I’m sure your version is a bit wilder and tricked out. I’ll have to check out the other two. I keep trying to add songs from a variety of sources; variety is the spice of life. We’ll keep at it.

I've got to say this, Doug, your method of teaching and songbooks are essential. Most people have never played an instrument before. You make it accessible. This is needed so badly in the movement.

the way Laverne discribes the guy in the song, its all you say Rope! believe in the sens of "Old Timers" the term "Jim dandy",did flo around in the TV series from the 50/60 like the "the beverly Hillbillies", "Lassie", Bonanza, if i recall correctly, and by all means a 'Jim dandy "exspression !
Thanks Rope! My IQ is rising by the minute. Songwriters do love to incorporate into their songs our creative use of the language which varies over the years and generations.
