  • Regarding strings: I typically use the 2nd 3rd and 4th strings (B,G,D) from a regular-light gauge pack. Gauges .013 .017 and .026

    D'addario strings are my favorite

  • Thanks Charles! What guitar strings do you use for DGD tuning?
  • Yes DGD is part of the open G but typically, for the 3 string guitar, folks use the GDG portion of the open G or they’ll use DAD from the open D chord.

For slide guitar I think that makes perfect sense but for me it just doesn’t fit for rhythm and picking.

With DGD tuning if you fret on 2,1,2 you get an E chord and you can move that down the neck like you would a barre chord. Also, the chord variations are all really close by for example  2,0,2 is E minor and 2,1,1 is E7 and 2,1,4 is E9

Trying to easily find these chord variations with GDG or DAD is nightmarish (for me)

Anyways, hope this answered your question.
