Thanks BrianQ! You’re welcome. I hoped a song about fishin’ would go nicely with the fishin’ line strings on my new git!
Wow, great git & great song, haven’t heard that one for quite some time, thanx for sharing!!
Thanks t-belly, Ray, and Uncle John! This CBG compels me to play. I do enjoy trying something a little different.
Unlike a fishing pole, the built in ruler prevents stretching the truth about size! The box closers are an easy way to secure the lid without having to glue in wood and then screw the lid down.
At the end of the day, playing what you build is the biggest thrill of all. If it sounds cool, it’s just a bonus!
Lots of volume and nice tone. Good eye dears, all around. I like the box closers. I would have to order a longer arm to play that one. Sounding good, Doug. Good catch all around.
Really cool tips and a neat little song well played. Thanks, Doug.
Brilliant! Love it! the guitar and the tune. Great job!
Thanks Rope; I’m going for the big ones! Glad you liked the version! One of the Slingers requested the song, so it was a new one for me. I probably jumped on the Nitty version because I recognized the group name. The song has grown on me! The Slingers routinely broaden my musical horizons and I’m grateful for it.
Great tip on the masking tape. I have a pretty decent supply of my custom picks, but now I have a back up. Some times I want the pick click, sometimes I don’t. It is an unwanted sound with the fishing line strings.
Also, I agree about pick click. I sometimes wrap masking tape on a pick in different thicknesses to “naturalize” the pick sound. Great instrument introduction video and song, sir.
I agree A.D., Crow style rules! Thanks for the positive feedback. I have been moving to shorter necks and thought I had pretty much locked it in at 20.1” scale length. I just couldn’t leave the fishing line strings alone, so this CBG was one last attempt to get the standard GDG tuning (The high G is no problem). I’ve been enjoying playing my chugger so I just went for 2-strings on this one. Do I prefer the longer neck? That is a great question and I would like to give you a definitive answer, but I don’t know. It definitely has a different feel and with my one finger style there is some serious distance to cover with the longer neck. I do like playing it. It has a different feel and a distinctive tone. So I will make it my go to guitar for the weekly Zoom sessions and see what happens. That means you will get to hear it with a variety of songs over the coming weeks starting tomorrow.
