    Good lesson and philosophy on learning.

    Etta Baker is another that used the thumb and one finger style, well worth a listen if you're not familiar with her.

    Cheers Jim. I'm a complete novice when it comes to the banjo but I'm not surprised that there'd be plenty to offer there as well. There's a lot to be said for adapting techniques that have been proven effective elsewhere. 

    I'm not sure about anchoring myself, sometimes I go there, other times I don't. Still refining after all these years.

    Good lesson Patrick! That anchored pinky in the beginning sure looked like 5 string banjo 3 finger technique!
