CBN had some nail violin videos several years ago. I decided to try building one. It didn't sound all that good so I plugged it into my modular synthesizer.

Ha ha. It's the Cally Fest Ambiet Jam.
Shorts...my eyes ha! You always amaze me with your videos. Good info and out of this world sound crafting. Excellent my man. Perfect for that smoky tent stage at the end of the beach.
Thanks Derek. It does sort of sound like a psaltery.
BrianQ, I wish somebody who had experience would make one of these videos. LOL. I'm sure somebody has figured out what thickness of what, what diameter of nails, etc.
Sounds cool through the synth. Like sounds from deep beneath the sea. The instrument reminds me of a bowed psaltery.
Forgot to add, maybe you’d get better sound with softer woods, kinda like soundboards of string instruments are softer woods, you may come out with a tutorial video by the end of this?
You’re right, it’s a How- to article, but it gives you the gist of what to do?
Thanks Bob, AD, and BrianQ. I agree that Jim Morris could make it do crazy things.
Brian, I saw this article but I'd hardly call this plans. Is there something else? https://cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/how-to-build-a-nail-violin
That synth gave it a whole new life!! Great experiment! FYI the plans are located in the Resources tab under “How to Build/Free Plans” :)
remember "The Flock", imagine what this combo can sound like ,if you got say Jim Morris plugged in that stellar machine ! Kale ! or even UJ or Dave ! Digital Country steaming up the charts !! cally fest stage material!
Very interesting. Might have to do some research and give this a try. I have the same orange My Father box but it’s slated for a CBG.
