Brother are you ready

Views: 211
A gospel song I wrote with fellow cbg nation member Matthew Carr.The overdubs you can hear were inspired by the Beach Boys method of doubling up all vocals, it makes for a fuller sound, and hides mistakes too!The lyrics:ChorusBrother are you ready for the end?Brother are you ready my dear friend?For the Lord, he is a coming.Brother are you ready for the end?Verse 1Brother, I spent my life a wanderin'just looking for somethin to satisfy,But there's a limit to the wanderin a man can do,before it's time to die.Chorus (Sister)Verse 2Sister my life was wreck and ruin,though I tried with all my mightbut sister there's nothing a man can do,praise the Lord I saw the lightChorus (sister or brother)Verse 3Some folks are lost and ruined,some folks don't know just what to do.If they'd only trust in Jesus Christ our Lord,They'd have a life that is new.Chorus (sister or brother)

  • great song in true gospel style! the double tracking is fine, you didn't over-do it (-;
  • I've just added lyrics.....
  • By the way, any cover versions of this are welcome, you have the permission of the writers! It'd be cool to hear some reinterpretations.
  • Hey man, congratuations on reaching the top 5 again. You're the new Nana Mouskouri! :-) I came up with a new song idea earlier. It's a bit more Hank WIlliams but I think it'll sound good with CBG. I'll do a rough demo and e-mail it to you this week.
  • Great tune Chrissy boy
  • ACES, mate! ACES!
  • I'm ready.  Excellent job guys.  Don't know how you did it.
  • N ice job, dig the vocals too!
  • Splendid tune and great technique Chris, well done, very enjoyable. Especially appreciated the backing vocals you put on it. cheers

  • @ Eric Thanks, that was the kind of thing we were going for, our original version was on acoustics and was inspired by some of Elvis' gospel sessions, and of course Hank Williams (there's even a lyrical nod to I saw the light)

    @chillicool I must watch that movie again.

    @Roadkill Thanks, I've got some other old timey efforts in mind for some time.
