Back to basics....a stick, a tin...and made with a sharp knife

Inspired by Sotho Sounds, I spent an idle hour literally nailing together a 3 string guitar...well the nailing took about a minute...It was really cool going back to doing it this way, just taking an hour or so to make this from scratch (making the pegs took the most time)...but it sort of confirmed my approach of not over-thinking the job in hand, and designing the instrument on the bench and under the tools rather than planning in advance.I'm definitely going to do more of these...

  • John, you're a true inspiration, you have this Cigar Box culture in your blood that's for sure. I feel the urge to get out into my garage and start bashing about a bit! Truth is 'your one hour' would be a month for me ha. Well done mate, outstanding contribution.

  • Pretty neat.  I have an olive oil tin.   Never grabbed me.  Now I want to burn it and use it.   Yours sounds pretty good when it stays tuned.
