I was away Road Tripping when I became aware of the sad news, of the passing of our Legendary Friend Dave Lynas, have loved all the many fine previous, and deserving tributes to him, whether in Song or Art.I would have loved to have done a Tribute Tune “Dave Lynas Style”, particularly on my heavily Dave Lynas influenced build, AGP #376 called “Dave”, a 2 String Cello/Bass Guitar, But!, alas!, I don’t have the playing ability or talents of our “Dear Departed Friend”, so will try and make do with a little medley of Riffs, I generally play, when I’m feeling a little “Sad and Lonely and Blue”, ‘Amazing Grace’, Rod Stewarts ‘I Am Sailing’, and ‘You Gotta Move’, a Tune Dave played in his own inimitable way, several times on Git and Banjer, the little end Riff is one I stole from Dave, originally my thoughts were that is was the line, “Well, it's goin' to be rainin' outdoors” from the Robert Johnson song, Come On In My Kitchen, but when I questioned Dave about it, he infomed me it was, “Because I’m Sittin’ On Top of the World”.Was also fortunate enough to buy some of Dave’s Ceramic Slides many years back, from memory they cost abt $10USD, but was thinking later, that it probably would have cost more than $10 for postage, was also honoured by Dave including my big Boofhead in a few of his marvellous “Callyfest Drawings", something I’ll always treasure! :-)

  • "Thanks Poorness, Randy, UJ, Doug & A.D., I think all of the tributes to Dave I have seen, have come straight from the heart, and rightly so!, he was the Heart and Soul of the Cigar Box Nation right from the day I joined, from memory he and Uncle John were the first to friend me, when I joined all those years ago, and he subsequently influenced a lot of my builds and playing. R.I.P. Old Mate ;-{
