No idea who wrote the poem. Discovered at the back of an old book telling the story the village I was born and raised in. Allerton Bywater in West Yorkshire.

Great story and song Sammy! Wow! Combining some of my favs on CBN with you, Shane W and Uncle J. Here in West Virginia the coal mines are big business and the miners often risk and lose their lives trying to make a better life for their children. Lots of good songs have come from that culture from all parts of the world.

Loved that Sammy! Nice find on the poem, and the playing/guitar sounded wonderful.

Sammy that was lovely. Made my eyes leak a bit. Cool to hear you speak too.
Good poem. Those miners and their families had it tough, I am told.
