Looks good fer sure. Bet it sounds just as nice. You'll enjoy using fretwire. It is not as hard to do as you might think. I was nervous at first, but like anything else, you just practice and get a system down. I personally like the look of fretwire. I have only used nails previously. Lot more work I felt with them. Thanks for sharing.
Thats an excellent job Paul, I used copper wire for my 1st try at building, and that didnt work out either, I think its maybe better to use proper fretwire as John said ..! Get a video up mate and lets have a listen.
Nice job Paul - that's what it all about, boldly trying new things and changing it if it's not right, done loads of that, rebuilt two or three of my old guitars almost from scratch with newly acquired knowledge and always come up trumps ...then there's always plans for the next build ! (-;
Thanks John, maybe you can give me a few tips when I come over to look at the guitar. I've never really been a 'handyman', but this CBG lark is addictive. All the best Paul
Blimey...frets on a first build?! Well done...if they didn't quite work out, give it another go sometime. I've always used fretwire (apart from my first ever build which was a mandolin and I used some brass wire). The nice thing about making these guitars is that it's no big deal to fiddle with things...re-doing the neck, changing the pickup etc..it's all part of the ethos.
Thanks Paul, it's all part of the learnng curve and still very early days. I wish you well with your second build and look forward to seeing some pics. All the best...
Looks good Paul, shame the frets didn't work out....I'm about to start my second build and going fretted this time. I took the easier option and purchased some fret-wire ;-)
Thanks Russell, I'm happy with the build. I put cocktail stick frets on though it didn't sound quite right so I've taken them off and will use it as a slide CBG instead. I'll take some advice on laying 'proper' frets next time. Great fun though.

Looks great! I have a soft spot in my heart for the punch boxes.
