Thank you Uncle John for your comment. Yes, a simple two string gives you the ability to play that thumping monotone bass while playing the melody line on the high string. Basically reducing Vestapol tuning 151351 down to just strings 6 and 1. I am not sure if I've heard the song you mentioned. This is what is fascinating about folk music, it is a bottomless spring of music. Don't fret (no pun intended LOL), soon your work will be done and it will be time to play. Enjoy.
Thanks Keni Lee. Listened to the video again too. Good song done well. I am currently ennamorred with the octave tuned 2 strings and this should be simple enough to adapt. It made me think of another old song that might be good on slide. 'Lord, help the poor and needy in this land.' I bet you know that one. I may try it. Wish I had a CBG here at work!
