We'll get Granny to sing it. Without her teeth. I like the hillbilly theme tune. Maybe Walen Jennings...? Go Oily, Go!.. Wait, that's Dukes of Hazzard.
I just had a weird mental moment. When I was rereading "Stella Winston" below, the "Theme from The Beverly Hillbillies" popped into my head. The rhythm structure of the words, which is eight beats to the line, fits perfectly. Try it yourself...
Wow! Oily, that is Something. Outthere! Cool. A song is born. But I don't know Purple Haze. I think it calls for Leonard Cohen's touch. Thanks Oily. What a treat!
Stella Winston was a girl with lovely sunburnt bones,
But from the tender age of ten, she spoke with muted tones.
Her antecedents, it is true, were never of the best,
But what it was that pained her most, was what was in her chest.
She had a broken heart, you see, that robbed her of her breath,
So when she sang, all that came out, was thoughts of somber death.
She traveled far across the sea, and fetched up in a shed
Where everyone she ever loved just gave her up for dead.
But one man, Dr. Dave by name, was patient, skilled, and kind:
He knew that Stella Winston's heart was his to mend and bind.
And so he tried a thousand ways, a miracle to work -
He hammered, sawed and sanded hard each complicated quirk
To render Stella's heart robust, and give her breathing wings:
He fashioned her a breastplate from concentric metal rings.
When Stelka Winston sucked in air, what came out weren't forlorn;
Instead her voice rang sweet and true, as if it were newborn.
All David's friends stood stone-amazed to hear sad Stella's song
But cuz it was in Japanese, her thank-you's sounded wrong
Her blues had turned them envious green, and reddened all their gaze:
Their goodwill vanished, gone like smoke, when she played Purple Haze.
Thanks Rick, thanks Uncle. It will be prayed for. She's resting comfortably in the Corinarium Atrium vestibule till she regains consciousness. Will she sing again? God knows...

Now, how to Cohenify that...hmmm.
"They even copied copies" :D
You do know Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix -
Hmmm. Cohen. Minor key...
