Which side are you on? This is the original top.

I've been using old fiber board boxes lately. I love em. Most often, they sound good. And they have the old mojo. Some say, "If it ain't wood, it ain't good." I think they are wrong and that they are sort of being snobs.

  • I agree...I've made quite a few that rant wood.....stick a piezo in it and they sound great.
  • Kevin, it was truly close, but I went yellow.   But I see what you mean about linear.  I wish I had two of those boxes.  Also, this side seems to look a bit better in the photo than it does for real.

Good wishes on the Phillies box.   I find the fiber boxes sound good as is.   Hmm.  Interesting on doing that on the inside.....   I hope to see a photo.

  • I like this side, personally.  More linear.

Currently working on a Bayuk Phillies box for Lori's nephew (he's a Phillies fan) and it's the fiber board as well.  I think that once I get the pickup wiring straight and seal the box up, it'll sound fine.  Debating whether to modpodge the interior to make it a little more resonant.

  • Gentlemen, you have fine, cultured taste.

  • I agree. I made a guitar for a friend, out of a cigar box he found in his Grandpas garage, (his grandpa had recently passed) it was an old "Phillies" fiber box. I figured it would be a wall hanger but it sounds great and he plays it quite a bit. It also has a piezo pickup in it !!!

  • Cool old box. I too love the old ones.
