War time tailpiece ghost

1945 Harmony flat tops and archtops had wooden tailpieces. When i took off the tailpiece it revealed this star design. I have a Harmony book that shows this motif of red white and blue stars in a circle and a big red white and blue Uncle Sam's hat. All that remains of the design is under the tailpiece.

    This one got some tone. It rings for a long time and chimes very nice.

    I just know that Harmony used a lot of birch.  And it does look like it too.   Not a great tone wood, but not bad and kind of that distinctive Harmony sound.

    Uncle John, maybe she is birch. It looks like Mahogany also in parts of the woodgrain. Maybe someone can tell us for sure.

    Dave I have a pre war Harmony archtop and yeah the tailpiece is wood dyed black to look the ebony.
