Vintage Oxford Wall Speaker/Amp Build

Vintage Oxford wall speaker from around 1940/50 era, 6" speaker, 2.5 watt amp, on/off volume, input jack, led on/off, 9 volt battery compartment. I routed the back out to accept the 1/4" back. Sounds awesome, has a real deep tone, I have two of them, they were hanging in an old tavern for many years as the speaker cloth is smoke tinted.

  • Thanks Carl, I'm working on getting myself up to speed so to speak in the video department. Being somewhat technologilcally challenged as I am,  it is not easy for me to do :-(

  • That is so SWEEET! It took me a while, but I remember something like that hanging on the walls of my elementary school. (Without that lovely smoke patina!) Howzit sound? Can you post a demo?

  • Thanks JM!

  • That is really cool!!

  • Thanks Vinyl!

Thanks John, seems like I have CBG overload to the brainpan anymore when I'm out and about. Everything I see becomes an amp or guitar in my eyes. I think I need some professional help ;-)

I haven't heard anything on river levels yet, they're still running 35,500 cubic feet per second at Gavins Point, all 5 dams upstream with the exception of Big Ben have cut back though so it wouldn't surprise me to see a low river this winter.

  • You know, I recall seeing these when I visited.  I TOTALLY missed the potential.   Good eye and good idea.

I hear the river flow is going to be cut WAY down for the winter.

  • Oh, lordy, that's nice!

  • Thanks everyone!!! Well I didn't get started on the 2nd speaker tonight as I spent the evening at my 3rd Thanksgiving dinner in 2 days. Boy am I tired for some reason :-)

  • WOW!   That is a beauty!

  • Nice! It looks like it spent the first 60+ years of it's life just waiting around to become an amp. Perfect!
