Vintage Dunhill 4-String

Vintage Dunhill box from Darren's museum find, single coil pickup, stacked Fender 250/500k pots, paper-in-oil 0.47 cap. Sounds pretty good, but I'm still working on the tuning. Thanks to Darren for sharing his haul and to Bug for donating the cap :-)

  • Man you sure buile a nice one... bet that rocks

  • Thanks John :-)

  • the headstock looks top draw ......! great work

  • Thanks Suspect. I have an aversion to paying for wood because so much gets thrown away. The neck is made from a laboratory bench top that my Dad reclaimed in the 1970s !
  • Great looking cbg with some top-shelf details. I really dig the reclaimed drawer fingerboard too!
  • Thanks Dave and Hippy Chip. The headstock is just veneer on oak. I think the fingerboard is mahogany - it was made from the side of a drawer that I dragged out of a skip (dumpster). The cigar box is gloss varnish on the original finish but it revealed slight natural sunburst effect on the lid, which was a bonus !
  • Wow, some pretty wood here. Love your headstock styling. Beautiful work....

  • I like to play the fours best---also try tuning df#ad, and eg#be Beautiful build---enjoy it!!
