Vintage Dunhill 4-String

Vintage Dunhill box from Darren's museum find, single coil pickup, stacked Fender 250/500k pots, paper-in-oil 0.47 cap. Sounds pretty good, but I'm still working on the tuning. Thanks to Darren for sharing his haul and to Bug for donating the cap :-)

  • Try - D , F sharp , A and D . you will love it!

got it from Shane's one came tuned and ready to play.... love the tuning..

The fingering is all different but I can give you some riffs if you like..

  • Looks great!!

  • Thanks Hal, I think that may be an optical illusion, the fingerboard just runs straight into the neck slot in the side of the box but it's thicker than the box lid.

The tailpiece is 1mm brass grounded to the jack and backed with 3mm gloss black Perspex (plexiglass). The Perspex is nice and shiny and it's thickness hides the ends of the strings.  It's not glued but just held in place by a 2" long screw through the strap button and into the neck.

  • Nice work!  Like how you notched the fretboard at the box.  What's the tailpiece made of?
