Fitted the active end pin pre-amp with a disc piezo and 100k pot. Cheap and works well. I'll add a battery box when I decide where to cut the hole.

Thanks, Korrigan. Through the Vox Mini 3 amp, it's OK. Through my little Bugera V5 valve amp it sounds pretty good, given the limitations of the box and pickup. Ukes have a fairly 'thin' sound compared with a longer scale instrument but it sounds very nice for a basic disc piezo. It would probably sound better if you used the supplied under-saddle rod piezo but I wanted a moveable bridge rod. I have a MiSi Acoustic Trio ($150) in a 'proper' uke and that's better, but probably not 20 times better.
I think this is the equivalent on eBay USA. They're not expensive so I'd recommend giving it a go.

Good looking innards, Diggley.
Cool! How's it sound? I've been considering ordering one.
