Twisted Gambler 2018

The sapele neck was already warped and "twisted" from the start, so I took a "gamble" on it. After making some adjusments I managed to complete the build. The body is a fancy decorated playing card box with hand-made Brass fitments and a gold mini humbucker. Small volume/tone controls are fitted on the side. Tuned to GGB.

  • I really appreciate your compliments Dave.  I bought the box as is.  Like you, the intricate design drew me to this box.  On close scrutiny, I think it is some form of printed laminate, if only it was genuine scroll work! I didn't take long for me to work on a theme for this build though. You have a good eye Dave, thank you. Bob.

  •  That's a sweet box guitar, Bob.  The only ones I've seen so far weren't near that nice, and if that filigree or scroll work or whatever you call the decoration was hand done it was well done. I was a sign painter and my eyes get drawn to that type of design. Did some airbrush and pin striping similar, but not nearly that complicated. Sure do like that design. And making it into a guitar, you do fine work and that's just about an ultimate "one off".Did it take more than ten seconds after you first saw it to have the design started?

  • Like the looks of this one.

  • Thank you. I think It sounds ok.  I managed to bang-out a bit of "Copperhead Road" on it. Bob.

  • I wondered why you called it twisted.  It looks great!   Should be a good slide player!

  • Great result Bob, and well done saving that neck! That box is beautiful.....lovely marquetry work, what a great find and looks so 'right' in it's new role.
