Trying to use up some 1/2 dowels I have and came up with this idea. This is just the beginning but the goal is to turn this into a 3-string fretless CBG. A work in progress!

Gary W....I like your idea. I know where I'm going with this build and have thoughts about doing the same thing again but covering the top two dowels with a yard stick as the finger board. And, number three will probably be your version. Thanks!!!
Probably a good idea to make this one fretless, Larry! ;-)
However, using even more of your excess dowels for the next one, you could end up with an arrat like:
Where the tops of the dowels would be 1/2 inch apart, which matches the 'regular' 3-string spacing! You could end up fretting them like a fretted didley-bow!

Larry - I think all 3 approaches would be really cool! Anxious to see pics when they're complete!

I like the idea of using what you have. Those 3 dowels should give a really strong neck.
Good luck with the project - I look forward to the finished CBG.
Here's the array I meant. The top three would align with the 3-strings. It just might work! ;-)

"Great Idea", just when you think you've seen it all !!!, something else pops up, be interesting to see the finished product, "Well Done".
Can't wait to see it done!
