That's ingenious...you've inspired me...I've got a pile of old plates. Now, I've got to learn how to tap the side of a nut! Thanks for the inspiration!
The stainless steel bowl was bought at the local "Dollarama". It's bolted through the plate to some holes drilled and tapped into 5/16 nuts that support the shaft of a 5/16 bolt that is used for the bridge. I sandwiched a piezo rod pickup between the bridge and the resulting sound is sweet and clear.
