Been a long time since I could get out the home-made winder... Got a couple of builds nearing readiness for pickups.

  •  Well now Dave, take a look at my video collection and all the files there are of my wall-wart wire pickups played on a Micro-Cube.. Typically around 300 winds of .006-.009 inch enamel wire. Let me know if you want that, (clean sound), or one with a more "conventional" sound. (Hotter) Also, let me know what kind of wood you want it made of.

  • Ooo, your pickups look yummy Southern. If you ever make too many maybe we could trade for slides?
  •  Thank you, AGP. I did my first and only blog here on how I do it with wall-wart wire, machine screws and thin wood slices. I know it probably isn't the best way, but I'm below low-budget and I needed pickups. I have ardently resisted using any kind of plastic in my builds as well. (Probably to my own detriment),They are definitely low-z, but they are loud enough through our Micro-Cube for us. Been trying to build some electronics with a lot of help from many very patient members here. No luck there, yet, but I've got about seven or eight scatter-8783391856?profile=RESIZE_710xwound pickups in my builds.

  • Cool Southern Ray, I didn't realise you wound your own Pups, I did make an attempt of winding my own, way back when I first acquired this CBG addiction, but failed miserably, mainly due to the lack of patience, knowledge & the right equipment, I found buying cheap Chinese Pups on Ebay much easier, and like Unc, I too have enough problems winding new line on to my Whipper Snipper :-D

  • LOL on the weed eater.  Thanks on the visit, but I am getting to be quite the home body and hi-traffic avoider.  Although, I would like to go down to Clarksdale and see and hear the sights.

  •  Oh, by the way, if you are ever out my way, gimme a shout.

  •  Ha! Ya know, a few years ago, I offered to build my dad a guitar, he had no interest, but he said "If you could modify one to wind my weed-eater coil, I'd be interested."

  • Cool.  After two years, my Dewalt weed eater is our of string.  I may drop by today and see if you can re-wind it for me.
