Hi Roadkill!
The Maritza emblem came from an old discarded sewing maching i found on the street. Liked the way it looked and the name Maritza sounds exciting. The deer was a lapel pin that i found at the 2nd hand Market. It says, 'De Bedriegertjes, Rozendaal'. To 'Bedrieg' means to mislead in dutch. It actually refers to a folly at a castle here in Rozendaal, Holland. At the folly there is a pathway which surprises the visitor by squirting water through the tiled floor. It's called 'De Bedriegertje'. The pin would have been bought as a souvenir probably sometime in the 40's or 50's. I thought it looked great and i like the story behind it.
Super looking instrument. What's the significance of the reindeer on the headstock and the name Maritza. I only know the name Mariza, which is the name of a fabulous fado singer. I'm sure there is no connection. Anyway, really nice looking guitar.
