I finished this build last month but wasn't happy with the finish, it turned out way to glossy for an old log and didn't suite it. So I stripped down and went over it with very fine wire wool to take the shine out, I think it looks far better now and more in keeping. The pickups were a fiddle to make, but I wanted the look of nails just hammered into the wood. The fretboard is spalted ash with has a 3 colour streak through it and the fret markers are branded in using a screw in the tip of my soldering iron.

  • I am curious how you did your pickup.  I want to put a single coil pickup under the lid of my cbg and just have the "poles" stick out through the lid like you did with the nails....I tried just adding screws to the end of a regular single coil I had laying around and sound was super weak....advice?

  • Thanks Robert
