The landfill collection

The landfill guitars came to me in unplayable condition and are now decent, fun players.I think fixing up broken guitars - especially free or cheap ones - is a close cousin to the CBG thing.

  • You should do it anyways. Every one's would be different. Love the video and the guitar. Have mine already built in my head. Need to find some time.

  • If you google "baseball bat guitar" and click "images," you'll see photos of John Fogerty playing his, and maybe another example or two. There's one pic of a guy playing a baseball bat violin.

Here's a pretty cool one you can see and hear:

  • Hey, JB.   What a cool idea on the bat and Jeter tribute.    Should have kept that a secret - someone else may beat you to it.   I won't, but I do wish I had thought of I it.  Man, so many possibilities on that idea.

Good on the uke idea ...  maybe.   For sure if it is cheap enough.  If it's tiny, it is likely a soprano and for me at least, the frets are so close that they are hard to play.   I love playing the next size up, the concert size.  Man, in the key of C - they are easy to play.

  • Good idea. I, just this morning, saw one in the thrift store that would make a good ukulele. It was plastic, but not too bad. Was in there looking for a wooden baseball bat for the neck on my future Derek Jeter Trubute CBG.

  • Thanks, Jim.  Yours came out great!

Unc > I concur 100% with your thoughts on landfill guitars, and I love yours! NICE job!

The old Tesco here was a freebie I scored on craigslist. After straightening the neck as much as I could, I just pulled out the worn-our frets, filled in the missing piece of fingerboard with a scrap from a wide, ol' yardstick, and made a new pick guard. Now it's my open D/E, Strat-style, 6 string slider! :D

  • Thanks, Wes.  I enjoyed talking too.
