It popped off at one stage but is now glued and screwed. One of the many learning curves. Nut is 40 year old camel bone from China - its very dense and greasy so the strings dont stick and it give wonderful sustain.

Yeah the little star thingy is actually hiding a hole from the first attempt at using a normal guitar string retainer. The Camel bone I stumbled upon on ebay and did some research & took a punt. Happy I did - tho its weird to work with as its very greasy all the way through..

This does look beautiful and like it's out of the art deco era. Like the vintage wood look and the pretty little star or compass. Cool about the bone.
