Thanks Tom. I haven't found the need for a truss rod. The 5-string necks are a 3-piece laminate with a fretboard glued on top. I have one more than a year old that is not a neck-thru and it is very stable. The neck itself is thicker than traditional so it is well-suited to someone like me who has larger hands, but others haven't had trouble playing them either.
I just don't like glossy, pretty guitars for my own self. Maybe (probably) I think I am not good enough for them. Give me something a bit ratty or salvaged looking.

Yes, but you have to be willing to go there to get to the end. :)
