Test run - spinning reso cones at home

Former just about done. Its a simple dome as the sheet Im using is very think so I dont think strength is an issue. You can see the depression in the middle where the biscuit will sit.

    I thought that spinning metal on a lathe required sort of steel burnisher you applied each side of the metal and the heat enabled you to "stretch" out the metal. Like I know nothing really and that must be obvious!
  • Very technical stuff Paul.... I used a broom handle initially!! lol Though it didnt work so well. I figured if I could get the metal hotter it would bend easier, so I wedged a big roundheaded bolt into the end of the stick. It got warmer, but failed as a former. Next step is to make a proper tool which will have a small metal wheel in the end so the friction is almost non-existant. If I ever get it working properly, Il do a vid / tutorial :o)
  • What tool do you use on the metal? I have a very nice Nova wood lathe, I like to learn this. Tutorial, Tutorial....
