It's all mine. Folks always ask me how old the box is. It has a "Factory 176 dist. of Pa." "more than 4 cents less than 6 cents" stamp on the back. "Fresh Quality Factory Smokers" on top & sides, no seals left and the same imprint on the inside of the lid. It looks like what it is, I can't take any credit for the patina. I posted a pic of the neck here also. The neck seems pre-war at least, it has welded tuner plates (not stamped), brass hardware, no tuner bushings, no injection mold marks on the knobs themselves. It came to me with the box, but I don't know if they are the same age or not. It is certainly factrory-made (not carved). Sometimes old wood has qualities you cannot replicate.
Anybody have any idea about the date of the box? I'd like to try and figure the age of the instrument. The neck pic I posted is from the same insrument.
