You are right, Pick. Raising it gives it a very real look. And since I am mostly a lowly thumb player, I bet there are some fine finger rests on that foot. Can you move closer so I can test ride all your stuff? I would like that.
the edge of the metal mesh is filed smooth and mostly covered with hot glue . the mesh itself is not sharp , and the foot rest is out of the way enough .. unless you are whirlwind / windmill twanging ;-) one could also mount it flat , but possibly lose the effect .

Other than fearing the foot while strumming hard, this is really like a historic piece or tribute. I wish I had thought of and done it first.
