  • Hi there, thanks for taking a look at my Bazzukas .. On the poehoeha and thundergut strung versions I use the same preamp as they fit on some Oscar Schmit ukes..
You can find the amp on eBay here:

On the 1st one I made with metal strings (not a practical little bass im afraid)I fitted one of these mandolin preamps..

The electrics on them are near identical
A lot of the tone will be from the direct mounting of the bridge on top of the piezo which I fit into the bridge saddle, as this is where the string vibration is at its most powerfull
  • Thank you, Lee. Yes, I've already seen your bazzukas. They seem even smaller than my subkitties. Nice and good sounding instruments. What kind of preamp did you use for them?

  • thats brilliant!... have you seen my Bazzuka?

  • Thank you, Glenn. Listen to "Pancho and Lefty" on the upcoming TVZ-tribute-album, I played my other UBass on it. Or watch my Christmas video "Winter Flavour". This one goes to a friend but I think I'll do some recordings before I give it away. I haven't made a fretted one so far but I've got two finished necks around - maybe I'll try to fret one, good idea.

  • I've been waiting for a chance to make a fretted one of these. Is there a sound clip or vid? Looks great, would love to hear it.
