I'm going to be using this old mic. from a Morse tube Reel to Reel for a pickup. Sound tests plugged into my amp with the mic. wrapped in enough foam rubber to secure it in the box with the lid latched down were very positive. Afterward, I added thin damping material to the back side of the exposed plate to further reduce metallic ringing. Even better. Now with custom spring reverb feature ;) I can actually hear it a bit through my amp. Sounds more like a old screen door spring twanging though. I don't think Fender has much to sorry about.

Hey, thanks Bruce. I was debating between using Piezo, Speaker or Magnetic for a pickup but remembered that I had this old RTR mic. It's working out well so I'm going with it.
The added "spring reverb" was for a little experimentation and to have some fun with it. You have to stomp a bit but you can hear it when ya do ;) That's going to stay also.
