The bridge plate I make myself from angle aluminum stock. The aluminum holds up just fine without the saddles "digging in". They're similar to your typical strat-style hardtail bridge. Then I add some stock string saddles. I guess you could make it top-loading, but I always do my guitars as a "string-thru".
