Thanks for the info and I greatly appreciate it. If anyone didn't notice, in my photo, the hinge is actully turned upside down with the two holes to the top and the three to the bottom on it. I have several different ideas for the tail piece, including the pop-rivet ones you mention. Since I plan to make more than just one CBG, I'll have an opportunity to play about with each of them a bit in the future. Some may not work as well as the pop-rivet idea you speak of, so it will be interesting to see who they fare.

just a word of safety about the brass hinge James - I used to use them but they sometimes break under the string tension and twaaaaannnngggg...!!
better to drill 3mm holes for the string anchors in the tail and insert half inch pop rivets, much safer and will sound better than the hinge ! :-)
