The Songbird was built entirely out of reclaimed wood. The front and back panels were actually made from the thin packing plywood that surrounded our sofa when it was shipped to us. The resonator is created using 2 small metal plates, a brass lamp component, half of a large copperplate hinge and a drawer knob.The cut out is of my own design and backed with a piece cut from a brass plated serving tray.

The neck is made from oak boards that were used as interior house trim. I bought a bundle of (5)
1" x 1.5" pieces of stock that had been previously stained from a local Habitat for Humanity Store. Each piece was 10 feet long. I cut them into 30" long pieces and then ran them through the table saw to create .5" thick and .25" thick boards. I use the .5" thick for the neck and the .25" thick as the fretboard. I refinish them as needed. The aged look is something I add as I build/finish them. Also, I play (if you want to call it that) using a slide.

And I see it's fretless. Do you use the fingerboard, or do you play slide?
