SLM Diddley Bow

Had a few bits and pieces laying around and thought I'd try something a little different, so I put together a diddley bow.Barnboard base with angle iron brackets and a recycled pine dorsal fin. The fin was used as a mount for a standard tuner, a bass pickup and volume control. The housing at the end of the bracket covers the back of the volume knob and also serves as the mounting point for the output jack. I used a mason jar at the other end to support the string. First time I've built one of these, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

  • It sounds pretty good. Not really that different than playing slide on one of my CBG's, except the noise of the pick seems to be a bit more pronounced. I plugged it into my Traynor tube amp using a BOSS '65 Fender pedal and was pretty happy with the results.
    I will try to get a video of it tonight when I am out with it at a buddy's place.
