Bronze strings. I forgot to buy ukulele strings so I tried it with 011 bronze strings. D, G, B, E and tuned it to G, C, E, A with a lower G than usual. It sounds pretty good!

Yes it sounds pretty good! On the other hand there is some problem: the string tension seems to be too much so it is a bit too sensitive. I mean if you push the string hard between the frets it is going out of tune. I think I will have to change them to nylon strings. As much as I love traditional nylon string ukes, I also believe if you are gonna take the time to build something make it something you can't buy at Sam Ash. I bet those bronze strings give that uke some great sustain and some real bite that you don't get with nylon strings.
