And I see the word Sitar means " 3 Strings" so that is right up my alley, though they actually have 18-21 strings. So a 3 string neck with some drone strings under the main ones should give a reasonable sound I think?
To be clear I have no plan to build a " real" sitar, just something Sitar-esque,that will give the general sound. I have experimented some with the Jawari bridge idea, like when I did Norwegian Wood on the Beatles compilation done in here a while back.
Yep I think the flat frets and the routed out neck for the drone strings should make it pretty easy to pull off. This looks like a complicated dulcimer neck on a couple of gourds.
