Salvaged driftwood from the sea, scarfed neck is oak stained black with latern soot. Pins carved of marple, original sea salt is used to make the pins stay in tune.

    It is fishing line, one thicker, two thinner gauge... stretches a lot, not as loud as metal strings, but good to play fretless.

    It also does not sound like a Shamisen (no wonder!) the Japanese took parachute cord for Kankara strings.
