Now this was going to be an ordinary fretted big poplar box acoustic. Then I saw the grain on the neck, and figured frets would just spoil it. Hang on, so in that case would fret markers. So-nothing, except one coat of linseed oil and two of F1. Grain ain't always real easy to photograph, but you might get the idea from this pic.

Thanks guys. Every post I make, I look at the pics before and after mine- elegantly carved pieces of hardwood with intricate detail and flawless electrics, and I think 'Why do I bother?" Then I remind myself of the CBG philosophy, which is that, really, anyone can build a playable musical instrument, and I just did, and that not only do I think it's cool, but someone else does too...
