And there's the fret markers. I haven't got this strung right yet- and I think this would be a good Forum subject if it's not been done already- I find it much much harder to get the right guages for slide playing than for ordinary fretted work. Here, the middle string is a 0.024 plain, and next to the other two (0.038w and 0.018p) it sounds dead dead dead. I think I've had this trouble with my last two or three fretless builds, to the extent that I actually dread choosing three strings for slide playing more than I do marking, scoring and fretting a neck.Anyhoo, that's just me whining- it looks really cool, has a lovely balance, and I'm sure I'll get the strings right. And the state of the grass is a good indication that it's getting drier, and 'otter (sorry).

That was a good thought, but I've now fitted a string tree to the D, and it's still dead. Think I'm gonna switch it for a 0.024w or similar; it may just be that plain strings just don't get fatter with dignity. It might even be the slide I'm using- I usually go for ceramic- but I think it's a plain gauge thing...
Pretty. Neat sound hole. Yup on the dead or buzzing strings. Often a problem. Often a mystery, challenge and pain in the butt. I just finished a DGB three yesterday and today. It had buzzy noises especially in the B string. String retainers (hold downs) helped and may be what you need here. And I first used a coarse threaded screw for the saddle and that allowed too much movement for the little B string. I then used a finer thread and that took it too pretty good, but not perfect.
